On July 8, the 2025 National Science and Technology Award Ceremony was held in Beijing, where the official winners were announced. CNTY received the Second-Class National Science and Technology Progress Award for its "Key Technologies and Equipment for Targeted Biomass Thermal Conversion".
The project addresses large-scale resource utilization of biomass (including organic solid waste), tackling low product yields, long process chains, high energy consumption, and heavy pollution. It pioneered a targeted thermal conversion technology based on precise regulation of thermal free radicals, enabling efficient production of high-value products such as clean fuels and advanced carbon materials, significantly contributing to national energy security and resource recycling.
After nearly two decades of research, the team built an independent innovation system covering theory, process, and equipment, breaking through multiple industry bottlenecks. The outcomes include modular equipment lines from kiloton to hundred-thousand-ton scales, deployed across 20+ Chinese provinces and exported to 20+ countries. They also commissioned the world's first kiloton-scale bio-aviation fuel demonstration plant, achieving a breakthrough in straw-to-jetfuel conversion. The high-value carbon materials have been successfully applied in batteries, driving domestic substitution of critical materials and delivering substantial economic, ecological, and social benefits.
